How You Can HelpDONATING OR RAISING FUNDS If you are an animal lover there are many ways in which you can help HART. Obviously for any charity funds are necessary to keep things going. With Nepal being a land-locked country, transport of heavy goods is enormously expensive, it is of greater benefit to HART if people can donate money rather than sending goods. The majority of the items we need can be purchased here. On the tabs above you will find ways in which you can become a Member of HART for an annual fee of £8, or a Friend of HART for a minimum donation of £30 per quarter. We are hoping that some dog clubs may become ‘Friends’, collecting from exhibitors at show, maybe by running special raffles. If anyone has any great ideas to pass on, please let us know! Another option is to sponsor a kennel, in which case we shall regularly send you photos of the dogs that have benefited from staying there. Sponsorship of a kennel costs £150 a year. Any monies paid to HART can either be sent via PayPal or paid directly into our UK bank account: Dog Aid Nepal; Barclays Bank; Shrewsbury Branch; Account Number 30334553; Sort Code 20-77-85; SWIFT: BARCGB22; IBAN: IBAN GB46 BARC 207785303345 53 Alternatively funds can be sent directly to HART’s Nepali bank account, but if sending money from outside the UK your bank will usually make an additional charge for this. Details are: Himalayan Animal Rescue Team Himalayan Bank Ltd., Pokhara Branch, Nepal Account No. 016 02148810013
DONATING USEFUL THINGS TO HELP US: Anti-parasitics: Flea and tick treatments such as Stronghold, Advantix and Frontline are always in much demand, even if slightly beyond expiry. Worming tablets such as Drontal, or any other make that ideally copes also with tapeworn. Veterinary Medicines and antibiotics, again even close to or shortly past expiry, are always helpful. Rimadyl and Metacam are particularly useful and cannot be obtained in Nepal. Anything that can help with skin problems is a bonus! Surgical instruments of high quality (so they have a long life) are always welcome, as are clipper blades (sizes 10 and 40 ideally) and nail-clippers. A microscope and scanner for diagnostic purposes would be dream come true! Our staff always need good raincoats and head torches as they are often out with the dogs in foul weather.

COLLECTING MEDICINES As you will see from the suggested list above, some medicines and surgical items are not available here, including simple things like good dog nail-clippers. Many a dog has in-growing dew claws, purely because no-one has ever though to cut his nails, or perhaps has not had access to suitable equipment to do so. Now that our only active Founder, Juliette Cunliffe, lives in Nepal, we need someone in the UK to be a ‘reception address’ for any veterinary medicines and items that are donated. Unused medicines for people’s own pets are always welcome and naturally any vets who can let us have any medicines close to or just past their expiry dates are always very welcome. Spot-on flea treatments are constantly in demand. It would be great if people could also collect medicines overseas for us. How about a collection point in Australia, one in the US and another in Europe? When collected we could work out some way of getting them here. Please let us know if you are interested! ![]()

VOLUNTEER Volunteers are warmly received at HART. Of especial value are trained vets and veterinary nurses, but sometimes other volunteers are also needed. We cannot pay fees, but sometimes have a very simple room available on our premises, with use of shared toilet facilities. Very reasonably priced accommodation can be found in Pokhara and we are always pleased to help with arrangements. If you are interested in volunteering please send us an email, telling us about your qualifications and interests, indicating the way in which you feel you could help. Please also attach a copy of your resume for our information. ![]()
![]() The other way you can help HART is by spreading the word. Please add a link to your web site, it would be so very much appreciated! |
